About the Tech

DevStudio: one small platform, a handful of apps, and an AI pair that builds them with me.

The platform

DevStudio is the name for how I build: a small written platform, a set of apps that follow it, and Claude Code as the pair that does the building with me. Everything below runs on it.

The Foundation
A written platform spec — a cross-type shared layer plus a baseline per app type — that every app in the estate is built to. New apps are scaffolded from it; changes to it are synced out to every repo.
Cloudflare Workers
The edge runtime for every new property: static sites, headless CMSs and APIs run as Workers with D1 (SQLite) and R2 (object storage), built and deployed by Workers Builds on a push to main.
Astro
The public sites. Every page is prerendered at build time from the CMS, so a visitor never touches the CMS — a decoupling invariant that a build gate enforces before anything ships.
Payload CMS
Headless authoring. One multi-site hub holds the content of several publications; a Deploy Hook rebuilds the right site when something is published.
Node PWAs
The interactive apps: React + TypeScript + Vite front ends on Express 5, PostgreSQL via Drizzle ORM, installable as progressive web apps.
WordPress, where it fits
Client sites on WordPress and WooCommerce, developed locally in DDEV, with git tracking only the custom code.
Claude Code
The build partner. Sessions follow a committed protocol — classify, branch, gate, commit — and a human merges and ships. Automation over runbooks.
